Karrion Kross Reveals All About WWE Contract Negotiations

WWEJonathan EscuderoComment

Karrion Kross sat down with Ariel Helwani to discuss his WWE Contract expiration, Kross confirmed his current WWE status and revealed how he had been slighted by the company during negotiations.

-Karrion Kross says he did not receive a contract offer from WWE until last Tuesday. He asked how the company came to the valuation of the offer and was not given that information. He was told he had 24 hours to agree to the offer or it would be rescinded. Kross told WWE he could not make a decision without knowing said information, and the offer was rescinded.

-Karrion Kross says that WWE did not make a contract offer Scarlett. When he asked WWE, he was told, “After we deal with you, we’ll deal with her.”

-Kross said some higher-ups in WWE thought that his post-WrestleMania 41 promo was real, and they were upset. He was under the impression that his promo had been okay’d with everyone and they all knew it was a work. One day, he waited for Triple H outside of a production meeting once he found out he wasn’t okay with it and explained everything to him.

-Karrion Kross thinks that because of Seth Rollins’ false injury and the situation with R-Truth, people don’t know now what is a work and what is real.

-He had a gut feeling all day at SummerSlam that his match with Sami Zayn would be his last in WWE: “I felt it. I even had a friend tell me, ‘You know, maybe do something for the live crowd when you’re leaving—say goodbye or something.’ I said, ‘I don’t want to be unprofessional. This moment, clearly by design, is for the babyface to get everything back that we took away from him. I don’t need to make this about myself right now. It’s about him.’”

-Karrion Kross said big promotions have reached out to him since Sunday. AEW has not, though, and he’s not surprised because people think his WWE exit is a work.

-Kross said he doesn’t have a timeline on making a decision for his future. He said he’s never felt this supported in all directions in his life. There is no sense of urgency to commit to anything that is not right for him currently. He would prefer to go back to WWE with Scarlett.

-.Says he was no longer able to directly communicate with Triple H: "I had a conversation with [Triple H] earlier in the year about all of this. They took a point man and they put him between us to communicate. Now, the point man is responsible for all the dialogue. He knows what I want to do... I've made it very, very clear that I want to keep the lanes of communication and dialogue open. It's a very weird situation. It's weird, dude."

-Kross thanks his fans for all their support:

“I absolutely cannot thank you enough. There were different periods in my life where I sincerely thought maybe I wouldn’t have even made it to this age. I was pretty troubled. And to find myself waking up with this level of support, in all directions—from friends, peers, vets, total strangers—it’s unbelievable. I just want people to know I’m not playing a game with them. This is real, and I’m here to fight. I’m going to fight to do the right thing, I’m going to fight to show up, and I’ll see you again soon.”
